Chocolate Intense by Odette Cuisine

9 June, 2017

My name is Odette Olavarri. I am Mexican with Spanish and French heritage: I am condemned to good eating. My kitchen is probably where I spend most of my time, and I hope it stays like that for the rest of my days. It used to be a hobby, but since I had the chance to study at Cordon Bleu and working at Bakea restaurant in México city, being in my kitchen is like being in a laboratory. I am…

DIY Clay feather INCENSE HOLDER

2 June, 2017

A feather, a plant, a flower, a clover and other natural findings have a great shape for an incense burner/holder. Clay is a quick and manageable material that will seem like ceramic. If you have the actual object, it'll help you trace the outline, or print a stencil and cut it. Flatten modeling clay with rolling pin, but don't make it too thin Press feather or plant lightly onto clay to get the contour Use a toothpick to make a hole for the incense…

For this breakfast setting we were inspired by Mexican textiles. It was hosted by Mariangeles Reygadas, fashion editor of L'Officiel Mexico, and director of Fundación León VIII, a non profit organization that supports Mexican women from Chiapas and their beautiful work. The event was held to launch their collaboration with Kipling Mexico, whose bags were hand embroidered by the artisans, and will be sold in stores around the country. The profits will all go to Fundación León VIII. We chose…

Tropical Table Setting

16 May, 2017

Refined tropical decor is very much in trend and achieved easily. Ideal for a summer lunch party, this concept can be put together  using a large variety of plants and complimenting with different colors. In this case, the yellow accents bring out some highlights to the whole setting. Large leaves like Monstera deliciosa or wide ferns can be used as placemats, this way you don't need a large stock of table linens. Use cristal plates to show the greens underneath. For…

Make your own linocut wrapping paper

5 April, 2017

Make your own linocut wrapping paper step by step. * You can buy a linocut starter kit online or at some local arts and crafts shops. To start, it’s a good idea to choose an easy two tone design. Even more so with black and white figures like an orca (killer whale). If you’re not confident copying, print something and trace it over the linoleum with a pencil. Use your cutting tool to carve the outline of your figure with…
